Cell Biology DEI Awards


The Cell Biology EDI committee is excited to launch our Cell Biology EDI Awards to recognize individuals in our Department who advocate for underrepresented groups and promote a more equitable and inclusive departmental or community environment within and beyond Duke. We will be offering two EDI awards as detailed below: 

Faculty/Staff Award

Eligibility: PRIMARY Cell Biology departmental staff or faculty (staff or faculty who have a primary affiliation with another department but perform research in a Cell Biology lab do not qualify for this award).  
Award: $500 to be deposited into a discretionary fund for use by the awardee.

Trainee Award

Eligibility: PRIMARY Cell Biology department graduate students or postdocs (grad students or postdocs who have a primary affiliation with another department but perform research in a Cell Biology lab do not qualify for this award).
Award: $500 to be deposited into a discretionary fund for use by the awardee.

Nomination Details

  • Nominations by a colleague or self-nominations are both welcome. 

  • Nominations should be up to a page and should detail the contributions of the individual to EDI within or outside of Duke. 

  • The Cell Biology EDI committee has recused themselves from this award and will select the recipients based on merit after evaluating the nominees.
